Jacoby Joins GM, Borst Rises at Toyota

Industry veterans Stefan Jacoby and George Borst received promotions in September as global automakers reorganized their leadership teams.

Jacoby, 55, left a position as CEO of Volkswagen of America to become chief of international operations at General Motors. Previously he had also held posts at Volvo Car Corporation and Mitsubishi Motors.

GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson said he hired Jacoby because of his thirty years of experience.

“Steve boasts knowledge of every major international market, which is unique in the auto industry,” said Akerson.

In elevating Borst to chief of its new Financial Services USA, Toyota chose a Toyota motor veteran who has led its Toyota, Lexus and Prius brands in strategic planning.
